The revised SPC states that treatment of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) with corticosteroids should be initiated within the first two weeks of onset. This has emerged after a randomised, placebo-controlled study suggested an increase in mortality if treatment with methylprednisolone is started more than two weeks after onset of ARDS. Information has also been updated regarding interactions to state that the effects of anticholinesterases are antagonised by corticosteroids in myasthenia gravis.
