Supply of Orgaran® (Danaparoid Sodium)

Throughout 2008, the supply of Orgaran® (Danaparoid Sodium) has been restricted due to ongoing manufacturing issues with the product. This product is exclusively distributed within the UK on behalf of Organon Laboratories Ltd by Durbin PLC.

Unfortunately, this situation has become more severe, and we anticipate that the product will be completely unavailable until early March. This shortage is a global shortage, and supplies are extremely limited.

In order to meet supply to patients with genuine need in situations where no other alternative can be used; we respectfully request that Refludan® (lepirudin) be considered first line in all patients where Orgaran would be given, and also administered as an alternative where patients are in a position to be switched.
