NICE has published a costing template to accompany its guidance on the use of rituximab for stage III and IV untreated follicular lymphoma (TA 243).

The costing template can be used by health communities to assess the local impact of implementing the guidance, based on the local population.
 

The template states that because rituximab in combination with chemotherapy is already a standard treatment in the NHS, broadening its use with a wider range of chemotherapy regimens is unlikely to result in a significant cost impact on resource use within the NHS at a national level. However, organisations are encouraged to review their prescribing pattern and estimate any potential additional costs or savings at a local level.
