NICE has issued a costing statement to accompany its guidance on the use of apixaban for the prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE) after total hip or knee replacement in adults (TA 245).

The template states that because the cost of apixaban is comparable to the cost of other VTE prophylactic drugs, there is unlikely to be a significant resource impact in the NHS, however it should be noted that the prices of drugs fluctuate and may be subject to local discounts.
