The BMA has issued guidance documents to help Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) ensure they have effective structures, strong governance systems and good relationships with member practices and the local profession. One document highlights essential elements that should be included in a CCG constitution. The other outlines the process by which CCGs are deemed ready and able to take on responsibility for the commissioning process and budget (the “authorisation process”).
