A New Drug Application has been submitted to the FDA for crofelemer for the treatment of HIV associated diarrhoea. Crofelemer is a first-in-class agent that prevents chloride and fluid secretion into the bowel by directly inhibiting 2 distinct intestinal chloride channels.
