According to BioSpace, Health Canada has approved ferumoxytol (Feraheme®) IV injection for use as an iron replacement therapy for the treatment of iron deficiency anaemia in adults with chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Marketing applications for ferumoxytol for the treatment of iron-deficiency anaemia in adults with CKD are currently under review in other regions, including Europe.  The company additionally plans to complete enrolment in a global registration program for the broader indication of iron deficiency anaemia in early 2012, which will be the basis for global regulatory filings to expand the indication.
