According to a BioSpace report, the US FDA has approved Propel™, an implant releasing mometasone furoate for the treatment of chronic sinusitis.  The self-expanding implant props open the sinuses in a spring-like fashion and provides local delivery of mometasone directly to the sinus lining as it dissolves.

The safety and efficacy of the Propel™ implant has been evaluated in three prospective clinical trials, including a total of 205 patients.  Results from the ADVANCE II randomised, double-blind clinical trial are due to be presented at an upcoming meeting.
