The September 2010 edition of the MHRAs Drug Safety Update has featured an update on the implementation of the restrictions on the sale of pseudoephedrine and ephedrine on preventing misuse. The restrictions were implemented in 2008, and subsequently, between July 2009 and July 2010, there have been no new reports of the misuse of these medicines.

The Commission for Human Medicines (CHM) has therefore recommended that the existing levels of monitoring, education, and awareness measures by pharmacists should be maintained.
