NICE is undertaking a review to decide whether the clinical guideline (CG53) on chronic fatigue syndrome/ myalgic encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME) should be updated.  Registered stakeholders are invited to comment on the provisional review decision via the website (the consultation closes at 5pm on 14th November 2010).

The review consultation document (see link below) outlines new studies on this topic located from a search of the literature, covering case definitions, information and support needs of patients with CFS/ME, and its management.  This summary notes that no new evidence concerning pharmacological and dietary interventions was located; however this was not contradictory to current guideline recommendations.  Similarly, evidence related to complementary therapies remains limited in quantity and quality. As such, no evidence which would warrant an update of the guideline recommendations was identified at this time.
