In its Appraisal Consultation Document on the first line use of gefitinib for non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), NICE’s Appraisal Committee has recommended against the use of gefitinib as a treatment option for people with locally advanced or metastatic NSCLC. Further clarification on the clinical and cost effectiveness of gefitinib from the manufacturer has been requested. The closing date for comments is 18 February 2010 and the second Appraisal Committee meeting will take place on 4 March 2010.
