Following the recent GMC verdict, the Lancet has retracted in full the controversial ‘Early Report’ paper by Dr A Wakefield, et al., following its partial retraction some years ago. The Journal’s accompanying Comment notes that evidence presented to the GMC indicated that a number of claims in the original paper were incorrect, including those that the children studied were consecutively referred and that the study had approval from the local Ethics Committee. The paper is therefore fully retracted from the published record.
