The license for Xeomin® (botulinum toxin type A) has been extended in the EU to include the management of post-stroke spasticity of the upper limb presenting with flexed wrist and clenched fist in adults. Xeomin® is already licensed for the symptomatic management of blepharospasm and cervical dystonia of a predominantly rotational form (spasmodic torticollis) in adults. The current license extension is based on the Kanovsky study, the largest randomised, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial with a botulinum toxin in upper limb post-stroke spasticity to date.
