by: Yuet Wan

Diabetes UK, in partnership with NHS Diabetes has produced a booklet ‘Diabetes Care and You’ providing key information to people with diabetes about their role in managing their disease, working together with their healthcare team and what they should expect from the NHS. GPs are advised to use the booklet when they meet with patients to trigger discussions about their diabetes, and to discuss and agree the care they need to support self-management. Diabetes UK will be sending 30 copies of the booklet and a set of vouchers to each GP surgery in England in mid-November to coincide with World Diabetes Day. The vouchers, which are for GPs to give to people newly diagnosed with diabetes, entitle them to a free copy of a Diabetes UK magazine called ‘Diabetes for Beginners.’ The booklet is also available to download from the Diabetes UK and NHS Diabetes website.
