Protopic® (tacrolimus monohydrate) ointment has been approved in the EU for the prevention of eczema flare and prolongation of flare-free intervals in Protopic-responsive patients using a twice weekly dosing regimen. The ointment is already licensed to treat moderate and severe eczema (atopic dermatitis), often involving the treatment of flares as and when they occur.
