NICE has issued an Appraisal Consultation Document on pemetrexed maintenance therapy for non-small-cell lung cancer. This states that pemetrexed is not recommended for the maintenance treatment of people with locally advanced or metastatic non-small-cell lung cancer other than predominantly squamous cell histology as it was not considered a cost-effective use of NHS resources. The closing date for comments is 19 January 2010 and the second Appraisal Committee meeting will take place on 10 February 2010.
