NICE is developing guidance on a public health intervention aimed at stopping smoking in pregnancy and following childbirth. The guidance is for NHS and other commissioners, managers and practitioners who have a direct or indirect role in, and responsibility for, helping people to stop smoking in pregnancy and following childbirth. It may also be of interest to women who are planning a pregnancy, or are pregnant or who have an infant aged up to 12 months, as well as their partners and families and other members of the public. This guidance will complement, but will not replace, other NICE guidance on smoking prevention and cessation.
A draft guideline, setting out the Committee’s preliminary recommendations, has been issued and registered stakeholders have until 8th January 2010 to comment (please see the link below for further details).
