The third edition of the national clinical guideline for stroke, prepared by the Intercollegiate Stroke Working Party of the Royal College of Physicians (RCP), has been published and is now available to download from the website (see link below).  Changes made since the previous edition include the incorporation of recommendations made in the recently published NICE guidance on the management of acute stroke and transient ischaemic attack.

The national guideline covers the management of acute cerebrovascular events (TIA, stroke, and subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH)) in adults, including the following issues:

• acute diagnosis and treatments (mainly through the NICE guideline process)
• all aspects of rehabilitation
• long-term care and support
• secondary prevention
• prevention of complications

Please see the link below to access the guideline.
