The MHRA is aware of a number of cases where products being sold under the name of ‘Golden Root Complex’, promoted as a herbal alternative to Viagra for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, are being incorrectly advertised on the web as registered and approved by the MHRA.
The MHRA states that there are no products containing Golden Root (Rhodiola rosea) licensed or registered for sexual dysfunction in the UK. It reminds healthcare professionals and the public that any herbal product that is regulated and approved by the MHRA (thus meeting assured standards of safety, quality and patient information) will have either a product licence (PL) number or Traditional Herbal Registration (THR) number on the packaging.
