  • Supply problems affecting Sinemet (co-careldopa) preparations are expected until 2011.
  • Production of generic co-careldopa preparations is not affected; prescriptions for co-careldopa should be written generically to allow these preparations to be dispensed. 
  • In the event that an increased demand for generic co-careldopa leads to shortages, patients may need to be switched to other preparations.
  • This document describes alternatives to Sinemet for use in primary care.
