This Topic Review is based on the NICE guideline ‘Type 2 diabetes: the management of type 2 diabetes (update)’, the short guideline ‘Type 2 diabetes: newer agents for blood glucose control in type 2 diabetes’ and the guideline ‘Type 2 diabetes: prevention and management of foot problems’.  It covers the management of glucose control and cardiovascular risk in people with Type 2 diabetes, and the management of the complications associated with Type 2 diabetes.
