The Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) has accepted for use within NHS Scotland Jext® (adrenaline tartrate injection pre-filled pen) for the emergency treatment of severe acute allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) to insect stings or bites, foods, drugs and other allergens as well as idiopathic or exercise induced anaphylaxis. The SMC notes that Jext is a new presentation of adrenaline for emergency use and has an extended shelf life (24 months) compared with some existing products.
