The Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) has advised that zoledronic acid 5mg (Aclasta ®) is not recommended for use within NHSScotland for the treatment of osteoporosis in men at increased risk of fracture, including those with a recent low-trauma hip fracture.

The holder of the marketing authorisation has not made a submission to SMC regarding this product in this indication.
