Following a re-submission, the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) has advised that ranolazine 375mg, 500mg and 750mg prolonged-release tablets (Ranexa) is not recommended for use in NHSScotland as add-on therapy for the symptomatic treatment of patients with stable angina pectoris who are inadequately controlled or intolerant to first-line antianginal therapies (such as beta blockers and/or calcium antagonists).

The Committee states that the manufacturer did not present a sufficiently robust economic analysis to gain acceptance by SMC.
