The Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) does not recommend quetiapine (Seroquel®) for use within NHS Scotland for the treatment of major depressive episodes associated with bipolar disorder.

 

The drug advice notes that efficacy relative to current practice for the management of depression in the framework of bipolar disorder in NHS Scotland involving combination therapy with a mood stabiliser or an atypical antipsychotic plus an antidepressant, was not demonstrated.  Please see the link below for further details.
