The Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) has accepted plerixafor (Mozobil®) for use within NHS Scotland in combination with G-CSF to enhance mobilisation of haematopoietic stem cells to the peripheral blood for collection and subsequent autologous transplantation in patients with lymphoma and multiple myeloma whose cells mobilise poorly.

The drug advice (available at the link below) notes that in clinical trials, significantly more patients treated with plerixafor than with placebo achieved their target collection of CD 34+ cells required for autologous stem cell transplantation with subsequent sustained engraftment.
