Following a re-submission of data from the manufacturer, the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) does not recommend the use of glucosamine sulphate (Glusartel®) for the relief of symptoms of mild to moderate osteoarthritis of the knee. The SMC stated that overall, the submitting company did not present a sufficiently robust clinical and economic analysis to gain acceptance for use in NHS Scotland.
