The Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) has advised that in the absence of a submission from the holder of the marketing authorisation, fondaparinux sodium 1.5mg/0.3mL solution for injection, pre-filled syringe (Arixtra ®) is not recommended within NHS Scotland for the treatment of acute symptomatic spontaneous superficial-vein thrombosis of the lower limbs without concomitant deep-vein thrombosis.
