The Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) has announced that it does not recommend the use of collagenase clostridium histolyticum injection (Xiapex®) for the treatment of Dupuytren’s contracture in adults with a palpable cord.
The SMC states that although the manufacturer showed that collagenase clostridium histolyticum compared to placebo significantly reduces primary joint contracture in adults with Dupuytren’s contracture and a palpable cord, the submitting company did not present a sufficiently robust economic analysis to gain acceptance by the SMC.
