SMC accepts testosterone undecanoate (Nebido®) for male hypogonadism

The Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) has accepted testosterone undecanoate (Nebido®) for use within NHS Scotland as testosterone replacement therapy for male hypogonadism when testosterone deficiency has been confirmed by clinical features and biochemical tests.

 

The drug advice (see link below) notes that this formulation offers the advantage of reduced frequency of dosing with less inter-dose fluctuation of testosterone levels, when compared with alternative intramuscular preparations.
