The Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) has accepted prilocaine hydrochloride 2% hyperbaric solution for injection (Priloketal®) for use within NHS Scotland in spinal anaesthesia.  Its use is restricted to ambulatory surgery settings such as day surgery units.

The Drug Advice (see link below) discusses the evidence on efficacy and safety submitted by the holder of the marketing authorisation.  This notes that the product was associated with faster discharge times than a hyperbaric formulation of bupivacaine 0.5% in a single-centre study.  Its use may allow service improvement through benefits to individual patients or service delivery.
