Summary
by: Nicola Pocock

The Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) has accepted fosaprepitant dimeglumine (IVEmend 150mg®) for use within NHS Scotland as part of combination therapy for the prevention of acute and delayed nausea and vomiting associated with highly emetogenic cisplatin-based cancer chemotherapy in adults.

The drug advice (available at the link below) discusses the evidence submitted by the manufacturer and considered by the SMC when making their recommendation.  This notes that the product is not recommended for the prevention of nausea and vomiting related to moderately emetogenic chemotherapy (the SMC has previously not recommended both fosaprepitant iv and aprepitant capsules for this indication).
