SMC accepts darunavir (Prezista®) for use in children and adolescents with HIV-1

Following an abbreviated submission, the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) has accepted darunavir (Prezista®) for use within NHS Scotland for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in highly pre-treated children and adolescents, from the age of 6 years and at least 20kg body weight, who have failed on more than one regimen containing a protease inhibitor (PI).  The SMC has previously accepted this product for use in this indication in adults.
