The Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) has announced that darunavir (Prezista®) 400mg (in combination with low dose ritonavir 100mg once daily) is accepted for use within NHS Scotland for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in antiretroviral therapy experienced adults with no darunavir resistance associated mutations, and who have plasma HIV-1 RNA <100,000 copies/mL and CD4+ cell count >/=100 cells/mm3.
