SMC accepts bemiparin (Zibor™) for prevention of thromboembolic disease in patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery

Following a second resubmission, the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) has accepted bemiparin (Zibor™) for use within NHS Scotland for the prevention of thromboembolic disease in patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery.

 

The drug advice notes that bemiparin was associated with a lower incidence of thromboembolic complications than unfractionated heparin and was non-inferior to another low molecular weight heparin.  Please see the link below for details.
