Following consideration of a resubmission, the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) has accepted azacitidine (Vidaza®) for use within NHS Scotland for the treatment of adult patients who are not eligible for haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (SCT) with intermediate-2 and high-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia (CMML) or acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). This advice takes account of the benefits of a Patient Access Scheme (PAS) that improves the cost-effectiveness of azacitidine, and is contingent upon its continuing availability in NHS Scotland.
