In this review of liraglutide (Victoza®), the Committee concluded that treatment should be initiated by a diabetologist or a prescriber with a special interest in diabetes who can assess the need for this treatment. It is then considered suitable for continued prescribing in primary care. The lack of outcome data on this drug with respect to mortality or cardiovascular morbidity was noted.
