This article in the Drug and Therapeutics Bulletin (DTB) reviews the evidence and place in therapy for fingolimod in highly active relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis.

The review concludes that fingolimod has a very limited role in the management of patients with multiple sclerosis. Availability of fingolimod through the NHS will be determined by the outcome of guidance issued by NICE (due April 2012) and the Scottish Medicines Consortium (March 2012).
