The authors of this DTB article review tigecycline (a derivative of minocycline) and assess its place in therapy for complicated skin and soft tissue infections, and complicated intra-abdominal infections. The article concludes, “On current evidence, it would seem appropriate to restrict use of tigecycline to infections that have failed to respond to current standard treatments or where there is known resistance to such therapies.”
