Anagrelide 0.5mg capsule (Xagrid®) The Scottish Medicines Consortium issues advice on anagrelide (Xagrid®) for use in NHS Scotland for the reduction of high platelet counts in at-risk patients with essential thrombocythaemia who physically do not tolerate their current treatment or whose high platelet counts are not reduced to an acceptable level by their current treatment. The Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) has, after a re-submission, completed its assessment on the above product. The SMC advises NHS Boards and Area Drug and Therapeutic Committees (ADTCs) that anagrelide is accepted for use within NHS Scotland for the reduction of high platelet counts in at-risk patients with essential thrombocythaemia who physically do not tolerate their current treatment or whose high platelet counts are not reduced to an acceptable level by their current treatment.
