In its Final Appraisal Recommendation, the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG) is supporting the use of Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (Viread®) within NHS Wales for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) in adults with decompensated liver disease.

 
The AWMSG recommendation states that treatment should normally be initiated following dialogue with a specialist liver unit, and this treatment is not considered suitable for shared care within NHS Wales for the above indication.
