In its Final Appraisal Report, the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG) has supported the restricted use of tacrolimus (Advagraf®) within NHS Wales for the prophylaxis of transplant rejection in adult kidney or liver allograft recipients.
It is however not recommended for the treatment of allograft rejection resistant to treatment with other immunosuppressive medicinal products in adult patients.

Tacrolimus (Advagraf®) should be prescribed by brand name to reduce the risk of medication errors, and the AWMSG is of the opinion that it may be suitable for shared care for the above indication.
