In its Final Appraisal Report, the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG) has supported the use within NHS Wales of sildenafil citrate (Revatio®) solution for injection, within its current licensed indication, for the treatment of patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) who are currently prescribed oral sildenafil citrate and who are temporarily unable to take oral medicine, but are otherwise clinically and haemodynamically stable. Its use should be restricted to a physician experienced in the treatment of PAH and it is not suitable for shared care within NHS Wales for this indication.
