In its Final Appraisal Recommendation, the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG) does not support the use of rosuvastatin (Crestor®) within NHS Wales for the prevention of major cardiovascular events in patients who are estimated to have a high risk for a first cardiovascular event, as an adjunct to correction of other risk factors. The group considered that there was insufficient evidence on clinical and cost effectiveness evidence provided to recommend its use.
