In its Final Appraisal Recommendation, the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG) does not support the use of paliperidone palmitate (Xeplion®) prolonged release suspension for injection within NHS Wales for the maintenance treatment of schizophrenia in adult patients stabilised with paliperidone or risperidone; or in selected adult patients with schizophrenia and previous responsiveness to oral paliperidone or risperidone, without prior stabilisation with oral treatment when psychotic symptoms are mild to moderate and a long-acting injectable treatment is needed. The group considered that the case for cost effectiveness had not been proven.
