In its Final Appraisal Recommendation, the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG) has supported the use within NHS Wales of darunavir (Prezista®) co-administered with low dose ritonavir, in combination with other antiretroviral medicinal products, as an option for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in antiretroviral treatment-experienced children and adolescents from the age of 6 years and at least 20kg body weight. Darunavir should be prescribed in accordance with Paediatric European Network for Treatment of Aids (PENTA) guidelines and is not suitable for shared care within NHS Wales for the above indication.
